The history of Shock Factory

You could say that the adventure began on 3 June 1957, when Mike Capon was born in his native England.

Mike soon developed a passion for anything with an engine and found himself wearing out his leathers in the British and world road racing championships, winning two titles in the process.

A true jack-of-all-trades and motorsport enthusiast, he cut his teeth in the car industry (including working on the famous Group B car: the MG Metro 6R4) before turning to an area that fascinated him: suspension and, more specifically, shock absorbers.

For over 20 years, he gained experience in this field and specialized in the design and development of shock absorbers. In 2011, Mike set up Shock Factory in Isère.

The company quickly won over a large number of users, all of whom were attracted by a quality product that was affordable, effective and high-performing. This growth meant that Mike didn't stay on his own for long and quickly surrounded himself with competent and qualified people. Now, a whole team manages requests and assembles Shock Factory shock absorbers every day, shipping them all over the world.

our Organization

Since March 2024, we have been based in Sermérieu, a small rural town in northern Isère - France, in new 8,600 sq ft premises specially designed to meet the needs of our business.

Our workshops, tailor-made for the manufacture of shock absorbers, are equipped with cutting-edge technology: five electronic filling machines, three computer-controlled shock dynomometers. In addition, we have a large number of specific tools, often developed and manufactured in-house.

None of this would be possible without our highly-skilled workshop staff, who can assemble every single one of our products by hand, and our office staff, who deal efficiently with all your requests and orders.

Our technology

We are often asked what type of shock absorbers we manufacture.

Well, they're gas dampers, with internal volume compensation.

Contrary to popular belief, a gas shock absorber is not necessarily a remote reservoir shock absorber. It's a damper in which the gas and oil that make it up are never in contact. This is the case with our shock absorbers.

This principle offers exceptional sensitivity and consistency, as well as the perfect combination of comfort and performance.

The hydraulic adjustment on our shock absorbers allows you to modify the bike's behaviour very easily. With a few clicks more or less, you can change the way your vehicle reacts and easily adapt it to your needs.

Our policy

At Shock Factory, everything is focused on the most important thing:

customer satisfaction

Every day, we do everything we can to give you the best possible experience at the best possible price.

HOW DO WE MANAGE TO OFFER SUCH A QUALITY PRODUCT AT THIS PRICE?

Well, it's simple:

Our philosophy is firstly to FOCUS ON the product and then to eliminate any unnecessary costs.

Our extensive experience in design, conception and manufacturing has enabled us to reduce our costs without compromising on the quality of our shock absorbers.

It's often said that we don't have a sales team and don't advertise, but in fact that's not quite true. Our sales people are all of our satisfied customers who talk about their experiences and talk to other enthusiasts who are also looking for a quality, customizable product with a high level of technical expertise at a very competitive price.
